HUMAN CORRUPTION

ILLICIT AND EXCESSIVE WEALTH:
Wealth! what  essence has it taken in our lives?, how do we  see it? Hmnn! so many unanswered questions but as complicated as they may sound  especially for the religious faithful, a vast majority of the world's population would give you an answer in the blink of an eye. These answers may come in different forms, you hear things like ''money makes the world go round'', or "money on my mind first, everything else comes next". But the pending question now would be - what if that is not the case?, what if money  does not actually make your world go round? what if after making the dough your world stalls? . Have you ever pondered on these?. well, if not you should .
After extensive brooding, I have decided  to share my  thoughts on the matter. To do this  I  intend to try and reconcile my views on what the social (psychological) and spiritual  implications  are on man.
A perspective look into the  social implications of this issue shows what a strong desire for quick wealth (especially excessively) can cause socially. The implication is evident in our society today but due to the present situation of things especially in our immediate environment (Nigeria), we tend to somehow ignore and even sometimes support this money-makers who would do absolutely anything to acquire such wealth. Well, the basic truth here is that, for that person who cheats others to acquire wealth, there is a greater tendency for them to drift away from the right path - that of morality and dignity - , the path of true service to their neighbours which is what society stands for. In a way these individuals become more affluent than others but relatively less human i.e in the context of what humanity is suppose to represent there tends to be a gradual decline in human values.
Furthermore, we discover that some of this individuals who desire illicit and quick wealth tend to possess little or no affections for their fellow man. They perpetrate such acts as cheating (manipulation), extortion and a host of other social vices. So it may not be totally wrong for me to say once again that as they (the guilty rich) grow in wealth, they become less humane. This is not to lay any form of slander on the lives of those who become genuinely wealthy as result of their hard work but you will agree with me that a major problem now is that the number of genuinely rich people is gradually dropping because only few are willing to work hard enough to make genuine wealth. To this end, one may desire a definition for the phrase (genuine wealth). Simply put, it is wealth acquired by someone without any form of trickery, harm or evil of any kind done but rather by hard work, persistence or other acts of moral nature (although, only few agree that the latter actually makes one rich). A hunger for excessive and quick money actually makes this problem a realization. The fact still holds that although money is undoubtedly pertinent to man's activities, man should endeavour to manage this strong desire for excessive wealth when they do not intend to work hard enough to acquire it. This I feel may partly help to curb the present menace of this human corruption.                                                                                                                                            word
We continue on the spiritual perspective in the next article. Untill then I enjoin you to engage in the conversation by commenting. Thanks peeps.
